Refund policy
Refund and Return Policy
Effective date: 11 August 2026
Thank you for shopping with Shirley & Island Wattle. This policy explains our voluntary return program and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
1. Change-of-mind returns
Subject to the exclusions below, you may request a change-of-mind return within 30 days after receiving your order.
To qualify, the product must:
- be unused, unworn and unwashed;
- remain in its original condition and packaging;
- include all tags, accessories, manuals and components; and
- be accompanied by valid proof of purchase.
Please contact us before returning a product. Returns sent without prior authorisation may be delayed or refused where permitted by law.
2. Change-of-mind exclusions
Unless a product fails to comply with a consumer guarantee, change-of-mind returns are not accepted for:
- personalised, customised or made-to-order products;
- gift cards and downloadable products;
- perishable goods;
- earrings, underwear and hygiene-sensitive products;
- swimwear or personal-care products with an opened hygiene seal;
- products damaged through misuse, neglect or ordinary wear; or
- products clearly identified as final sale before purchase.
These exclusions do not limit rights relating to faulty, unsafe, incorrectly described or otherwise non-compliant products. Consumer guarantees may also apply to sale and personalised products.
3. Australian Consumer Law guarantees
Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Goods must be of acceptable quality, fit for any disclosed purpose, match their description and comply with any applicable sample, demonstration model or express warranty.
If a product has a major problem, you are generally entitled to reject it and choose a refund or replacement. A major problem may exist where:
- a reasonable consumer would not have purchased the product had they known about the problem;
- the product is substantially unfit for its normal purpose and cannot easily be made fit within a reasonable time;
- the product is unfit for a disclosed purpose and cannot easily be made fit within a reasonable time;
- the product differs significantly from its description, sample or demonstration model; or
- the product is unsafe.
For a minor problem, we may choose to repair the product free of charge within a reasonable time. If we cannot or do not repair it within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to a replacement, refund or recovery of reasonable repair costs.
4. Reporting a problem
Contact us with your order number and a description of the problem. Photographs or video may help us assess the claim, but we will not require evidence that is unreasonable in the circumstances.
Consumer guarantee rights do not have a fixed 30-day expiry. They apply for the period that is reasonable having regard to the nature, price and expected life of the product.
5. Return shipping
Customers are responsible for shipping costs for voluntary change-of-mind returns. Original delivery charges are not normally refundable for these returns.
If a product is confirmed to have a failure covered by the Australian Consumer Law, Shirley & Island Wattle will cover reasonable return costs or arrange collection. If the product is large, heavy or difficult to return, contact us before arranging transport.
6. Refund processing
Approved voluntary refunds are normally issued to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days after inspection. Your financial institution may require additional processing time.
Refunds provided as an Australian Consumer Law remedy will include amounts required by law and will not be reduced by unauthorised restocking, administration or processing fees.
7. Exchanges
Voluntary exchanges depend on availability. In some cases, the quickest option is to return the original product and place a separate order.
